Parking & Directions
Please be aware that streets around the Courthouse Square in Downtown Newton will be closed to accommodate the Foothills Folk Art Festival and related activities.
Festival attendees should follow the “PARKING” signs. Street parking will be limited, as some lots are designated for festival artists, volunteers and vendors. Designated parking lots for festival attendees and free shuttles will be available throughout the day.
Convenient handicapped parking will be available at the First Citizens Bank parking lot at the intersection of Brady Avenue and A Street. Inform the parking attendant that you require handicapped parking and make sure that you have the correct handicapped permit.
Parking shuttles will run every 10 minutes from the Catawba County Government Complex on Southwest Boulevard (U.S. 321 Business).
DIRECTIONS TO DESIGNATED FESTIVAL PARKING
From the Asheville, North Carolina area:
Take I-40 East. Take Exit 128 (Fairgrove Church Road) and turn right onto Fairgrove Church Road. Travel south until you come to U.S. 70 (the intersection of two four lane roads). Turn left. Travel east until you come to the intersection of Northwest Boulevard (U.S. 321 Business) at Bojangles’ restaurant. Turn right. After traveling about 2.3 miles, the Catawba County Government Complex is on your right, just beyond the First Baptist Church of Newton and CVS Pharmacy.
From the Greensboro, Winston-Salem or Raleigh-Durham areas:
Take I-40 West. Take Exit 133 (Rock Barn Road) and turn left onto Rock Barn Road. Travel southwest until you come to the intersection of Northwest Boulevard (U.S. 321 Business) at Bojangles’ restaurant. Turn left. After traveling about 2.3 miles, the Catawba County Government Complex is on your right, just beyond the First Baptist Church of Newton and CVS Pharmacy.
From the Charlotte area:
Using N.C. 16: Do not turn right when N.C. 16 North turns right at Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet. Instead, stay on N.C. 16 North Business into the City of Newton. N.C. 16 North Business will merge onto N.C. 10. After traveling about 2.2 miles beyond Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet, turn right onto Southwest Boulevard (U.S. 321 Business). The Government Complex will be almost immediately on your left.
Using Highway 321: Travel north on U.S. 321 until you reach the N.C. 10 interchange. Exit and turn right onto N.C. 10. Travel about 4.5 miles until you reach the intersection of Southwest Boulevard (U.S. 321 Business). To reach the Catawba County Government Complex, turn left at the stoplight. The Government Complex will be just up the road on your left.
