A little something for everyone!
Join us on Saturday, May 9 (always the second Saturday in May) from 10 AM to 4 PM for the annual Foothills Folk Art Festival in Downtown Newton. This family-friendly festival, which draws thousands of visitors from throughout the region, will showcase a variety of local and regional contemporary folk and fine artists—whose work will be for sale—as well as artist demonstrations, hands-on art activities for children, live music, food from downtown restaurants and food truck vendors, a beer garden, and more!
Map it out!
We’ll have over 1,500 paper maps to give out on the day of the Festival, but you can also visit our digital map — complete with artists' locations, food trucks, stages, info booths, sponsors, and demos!
Of course, if you have any questions, just grab one of our volunteers, and we’ll be happy to help answer any questions that you might have!
Volunteers to squeal about!
As with most large festivals, the Foothills Folk Art Festival requires a large number of volunteers to succeed. Volunteer committees are being formed to organize everything from parking and signs to children’s art activities and food. Click the red volunteer button below to sign up now!

Courtesy Trolley
There will be a free trolley running from the Justice Center to the Foothills Folk Art Festival in Downtown Newton and to the Train Day activities at the Southeastern Narrow Gauge & Shortline Museum in North Newton.
If you're parking at the Justice Center (100 Government Dr.), you'll be hopping on the trolley at the parking deck entrance. It will drop off/pick up at the corner near the Old Post Office Playhouse (the intersection of Main Avenue and A Street) and loop back every 15-20 minutes.
The Trolley will also pick up near the Local Street Jams stage (the intersection of College Avenue and 3rd Street), head to the Train Day fun in North Newton, and loop back to the Government Center. It’s about a 15–20-minute loop, perfect for catching your breath between all the art and excitement.
The trolley will run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., so you can ride all day long!
